Bunyad Foundation

Who We Are

Established in 1994, Bunyad Literacy and Community Council (BLCC) is a non-governmental, non-political, and non-profit organization committed to creating a literate, empowered, and equitable society. BLCC works primarily with underprivileged communities, especially women and children in rural Pakistan, delivering programs that address illiteracy, poverty, and inequality through sustainable development initiatives.

  • Educated over 2.6 million individuals: Our programs have transformed the lives of women, children, and youth across Punjab by providing non-formal and adult education, enabling many to become literate, confident, and economically active members of society.
  • Implemented 177 impactful projects: Ranging from child protection and early childhood education to health awareness and vocational training, each project is rooted in community needs and driven by a participatory approach to development.
  • Presence in 14 districts: Bunyad’s footprint extends across Punjab including districts like Lahore, Bahawalpur, Rajanpur, Multan, Sheikhupura, and Hafizabad, ensuring widespread reach and accessibility for underserved populations.

Our Vision & Mission

BLCC envisions a literate, enlightened, and equitable Pakistan where every citizen, particularly women and marginalized groups, has access to quality education and opportunities for growth. Our mission is to drive social change by equipping communities with knowledge, skills, and the means to shape their futures with dignity and resilience.

  • Literacy for sustainable development: Literacy remains at the core of our mission, viewed not merely as reading and writing but as a tool for self-empowerment, enabling individuals to engage in civic, social, and economic life meaningfully.
  • Empowerment through skill-building: Our vocational and technical training initiatives equip youth and women with practical skills, improving their employment prospects and fostering self-reliance in their communities.
  • Collaborative development model: BLCC partners with government departments, NGOs, donors, and grassroots organizations to design and implement projects that are community-centric and results-driven.

Key Achievements

BLCC’s consistent commitment to excellence and innovation in literacy and development has earned it national and international acclaim.
