BUNYAD Brief

Our Values

Bunyad has been working in approximately 5000 villages in 500 Union councils on various projects in Pakistan. Bunyad is currently working on a large number of projects including social protection program to combat child labour in surgical instruments, carpet weaving industries and soccer ball.  Programs raising awareness on child rights and advocacy aimed at elimination of child labour from hazardous occupation are being implemented in Sialkot, Multan and Shiekhupura. The rehabilitation of camel jockeys in Rahim Yar Khan is also a major project of Bunyad. It has touched about 20 Districts. Women’s economic & social    empowerment is a major goal of Bunyad’s projects. Bunyad works with women through the formation of groups, providing them literacy, skills training and micro credit activities, supported by Federal Ministry of Women’s Development, Khushali Bank and PPAF. Health & employment opportunities are the support programs for women.  Hundreds of young women participate in Bunyad’s initiatives as teachers acting as ‘mujahida-ilm’, the harbingers of social change.Emphasizing the need to bring rural women into politics, BUNYAD   collaborated with the Election Commission of Pakistan & the UNDP in the Democratization Program. This program educated women about the election processes, the importance of democracy and their duty to vote. By encouraging and facilitating women to make their National Identity cards, Bunyad ensured their participation in the county’s elections. This met with most encouraging results.  In addition, Bunyad in collaboration with Punjab Local Government and UNDP initiated the Mushaliat Anjuman-Gender Justice project in 107 Union councils of Bahawalpur. This program gave rural women a chance for getting justice at their door step.   Understanding that activities for improving the lives of rural women & children need to be multi-dimensional, Bunyad has an integrated holistic approach in its projects. Combining various in-puts such as Literacy, Micro-Credit, Health, Reproductive Health etc, Bunyad effectively caters to the diverse needs of individuals and communities. Bunyad has an established training and capacity building wing engaged in regular trainings conducted at various project locations. Human resource development is an ongoing activity Bunyad as it emphasizes  on the Training of Trainers, capacity building opportunities of communities &  partner NGO’s and CBO’s   The research and publication unit is involved in printing conscious raising material, research documents, monthly newsletters  and booklets for learners who are a part of both the formal and nonformal education system.
